I am interested in the regulatory mechanisms of phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of the autism-associated Shank3 scaffolding protein and how these processes regulate synaptic scaling to compensate for perturbations in neuronal activity in the neocortex. Additionally, I aim to physiologically and behaviorally characterize new strains of mice that are Shank3 phospho-deficient or phospho-mimetic to learn more about the roles that Shank3 plays in homeostatic plasticity. Outside the lab, I enjoy kayaking, fencing, and connecting with fellow cinephiles.
